The Chorister's Prayer

Tonight I wanted to open with an old prayer text called “The Chorister’s Prayer”. It was first published in 1934 by the School of English Church Music, and even though it is 80 years old and counting, I think it’s a simple yet elegant prayer for a choir singer that we can still apply today. So let’s bow our heads.

“Bless, O Lord, us Thy servants,
Who minister in Thy temple.
Grant that what we sing with our lips,
We may believe in our hearts,
And what we believe in our hearts,
We may show forth in our lives.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.”
